The story written by Billy Crystal (plays movie publicist, in my opinion the main character) and Peter Tolan spins around famous Hollywood couple being in break up for year and a half and close to divorce. The wife (beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones) expresses her sorrow in sleeping with young Spanish small-roles actor, which was the main reason of break-up, of course. The husband (cute John Cusack) is in spiritual search for The Answer, which appears to be - that he is and was attracted by the lady she plays, not by the one she really is; and that he is actually fond of human characteristics which are posessed by her sister (charming Julia Roberts), which in her turn was always romantically in love with him. Pfff!
Love story is classical, simple and trivial. Ironically it appears to be not the main point of interest in the movie - such is life. The centre of the story is movie business being ugly and ridiculus than you look closer though working there is a kind of art, which is excelently performed by Billy Crystal. I got the feeling that his character takes it all ironically as well.
Jokes vary from primitive till quite clever and phylosophical. (Thus lovers of different comedy types will find something for themselves.) This brings writers additional credit. In a way the story line is as good as only life itself can be.
The moral of the story is the same as usual. If somebody breaks your heart - go and find someone better. That is after all the best you can do.
